Bauer’s New Power Quad Skate Profile
Bauer’s Power Profile is a 4 Zoned Radii, known as a Quad profile. The blade shape is designed with 4 zones uniquely placed and designed for specific performance improvements during all types of edge work.
• The first zone, located near the toe of the runner, is shaped to maximize acceleration. As the player begins their stride, the weight shifts over the top of the toes for the initial drive into the ice, utilizing a 6 inch radius.
• The second zone, known as the transition zone, sits on a 9 inch radius, which helps transition the players stride from rapid acceleration to measured, longer striding. The center of gravity shifts slightly back from the acceleration stride.
• The third zone, is the speed zone. Leveraging an 11 inch radius, the player is now maximizing their blade to ice contact for an efficient power transfer and straight line speed.
• The final zone, towards the heel of the blade, is the stability zone. This area holds the longest radius with 13 inches to provide balance as players shift between their edges when pivoting and absorbing contact.

CCM Ribcor Trigger 4 Pro Hockey Sticks Available Now
The new CCM RibCor Trigger 4 Pro is the latest version of CCM’s low-kick, quick release sticks. While the look remains familiar and the general mechanics, a stiff flex point at the middle of the shaft with the bottom third of the shaft gradually decreasing in stiffness, haven’t changed, the most unique feature of the new stick the the taper geometry
The all-new Asymmetric Taper at the bottom third of the shaft features a concave sidewall on the inner face of the stick with the outer face featuring a convex shape. The concave shape works hand in hand with the softer flex to improve release speed. The rounded convex shape on the outer face works to minimize the amount of rotational torque during shooting, helping improve accuracy, feel, and control
The new Agility Blade features a thinner profile, and a stiffer blade toe, allowing for more linear flex which helps with shot release speed, but maintains a sturdy, controlled feel during shooting and stickhandling.
With the addition of the senior 70 flex option, this is the most versatile offering of CCM’s #1 retail stick line. Come to the Stick Cellar and check out the CCM RibCor Trigger 4 Pro
Bauer Supreme ADV Stick
The new, Limited Release, Bauer Supreme ADV stick is a far cry for the “slap shot” stick reputation the Supreme series has long held.
The most notable difference is the all-new Sonic Taper. The 6-sided taper helps improve shot control and accuracy by reducing rotational torque of the shaft on hard shots. It also helps increase overall strength again slashing.
The new Advanced Carbon Layering (ACL) technology reduces overall weight with the ADV weighing in at a measly 375 grams with optimized balance
With innovations like the Sonic Taper and ACL technology, the Supreme ADV offers maximized power and acceleration in EVERY shot, not just slap shots
Bauer Supreme ADV is available now in extremely limited
quantities. Don’t wait, they’ll be gone before you know it
CCM Stick Fitter
Choosing the proper stick is becoming more and more a complicated task with so many options regarding flex and kick point. The new interactive CCM Stick Fitter has made the task infinitely easier.
The system uses both hardware- calibration sticks, Ipad Pro with advanced camera, and software, super slow motion video capture, to help determine the best family of sticks and the best flex for how you play or where you want to improve your shot
Here’s how it works-
- Through a series of questions regarding height, weight, style of play, where you shoot from etc. From your answers you will be prompted to pick a number coded calibration stick
- You take 2 shots- 1 slap shot, 1 wrist shot. From these shots the software can measure your point of maximum flex in the shooting process
- After analyzing the data the Stick Fitter will give you what would be your 3 best options for stick family and flex. You can also enter you email and receive video of your shots in super slo-mo!
- Grab one of the sticks recommended in our shooting booth and decide for yourself!
Step into the Sports Etc Stick Cellar and let one of our stick experts show you how simple choosing a stick can be using the CCM Stick Fitter
Choosing The Proper Flex In A Hockey Stick
Many decisions go into choosing a hockey stick- kick point, curve pattern, style of play and brand among others. But most experts would agree the most import decision is choosing the proper flex A stick that is too flexible can lead to less accurate shots while a stick that is too stiff can detract from velocity on shots and crispness on passes. So how do you choose the best flex? There are a few factors to consider
Very basically stated, a sticks flex rating is based on the pounds of relative force required to bend the stick 1 inch. While there are other factors involved in the physics of shooting a puck, this flex rating is the industry standard across the board. For example, a 75 flex stick would require 75 lbs of force to bend a stick 1 inch. Why is this important? Every shot and pass in hockey benefits from the loading, releasing, and follow through of the flexing of a stick. The proper flex ensures the best results
Sadly, there is no exact science to choosing the proper flex but the player’s height and weight are a good place to start. Keep in mind, stick are flex rated at full height. The more you cut a stick down, the flex rating goes up. Most sticks have hash marks on them to show you the approximate increase in flex the more you cut the stick down. Asa general rule, when in doubt, most players will benefit from a more flexible stick then one that is too stiff
With the focus on flex all of the major stick companies now offer sticks in more flexes than ever before with 70 flex adult sticks, 55 flex intermediate sticks, and 4o flex jr sticks now readily available for the first time. In fact, Raven Hockey built their entire company around making sticks in multiple flexes and heights designed just for kids!
The best way to choose the proper flex is to demo the stick first. In our Stick Cellar, we have demos sticks in a variety of flexes from all the major stick companies which allows you to try before you buy in the Shooting Booth. The CCM Stick Fitter is an exciting new interactive tool. It will help to narrow your choices and then you can demo the sticks it recommends. Pretty cool, right?
Choosing the proper flex is critical to your game and shouldn’t be taken lightly. Speak to a stick expert and demo different flexes before settling on you choice. It will make all the difference in your game
